Hello! I’m Anthony, a British English teacher from Chester, an old Roman city between Liverpool and Manchester.
If you’ve studied English for years but still freeze when it’s time to speak, you’re not alone, and it isn’t your fault. Before I became a teacher, I spent years working in sales, technology and the fuel industry while speaking German, so I know what it’s like to communicate under pressure in a language that isn’t your own.
Since moving to Italy in 2018, I’ve helped hundreds of Italian speakers stop translating in their heads and start sounding natural. My lessons are built on real conversation, authentic videos and articles, and the idioms, expressions and phrasal verbs textbooks forget. And more than 200,000 people follow Pint of English on social media for quick sips of real English.

Phrase of the week
Every session ends with a phrase you’ll actually use.
In a British pub, your pint sits on a beer mat: a little cardboard coaster that gets flipped, doodled on and pocketed. Ours have a phrase on the front and the meaning on the back, so tap one to turn it over. The ones on the bar are this week’s phrasal verbs.
